  1. World Wide Web Day is annually celebrated on 1 August to commemorate the introduction of World Wide Web (www) and its impact on the world.
  2. Earth Overshoot Day (EOD) marks the date when humanity’s demand for ecological resources and services in a given year exceeds what Earth regenerate in that year. Earth Overshoot Day 2023 falls on 2 August.
  3. Madhya Pradesh is set to launch its first online gaming industry named ‘MP State Esports Academy’ to provide the young esports player an opportunity and platform to advance to a professional level.
  4. Pixxel, a prominent space-tech startup supported by renowned entities such as Google, Blume Ventures, and Omnivore VC, has been awarded a significant grant from iDEX (Innovations For Defence Excellence), an initiative established by the Ministry of Defence.
  5. Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla inaugurated new building of Assam Legislative Assemble on 30 July, 2023 in Guwahati in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

  8. The Reserve Bank of India has taken a pivotal step by permitting 20 banks operating in India to open 92 Special Rupee Vostro Accounts (SRVAs) with partner banks from 22 countries as part of efforts to promote bilateral trade in local currencies.

  11. The ‘Cannabis Research Project’ of CSIR-IIIM Jammu, spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marks the first-ever initiative of its kind in India which is carried out in partnership with a Canadian firm ‘IndusScan’.

The Union Home Ministry has introduced a new Bill to amend the Registration of Birth and Death Act 1969 in the recent session of Parliament which seek to digitize birth records and make Aadhaar mandatory for birth and death registration. Its key objective is to streamline documentation processes, ensure accurate record-keeping, and facilitate various government services.
  15. The Punjab Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding with British Council Education India Pvt Limited (BCEIPL) to expand employment opportunities for the youth.
  16. Veteran Marathi actor Jayant Savarkar, known for his work in Marathi and Hindi cinema and theatre, passed away at the age of 87 due to age-related issues at a hospital in thane.
